  1. Can I stop taking lessons at any time?Yes. There are no semester contracts with Teacher Tone, so you may stop taking lessons at any time.
  2. How do I pay for lessons?We have several payment options, but the most popular form of payment is a secure payment by credit card, or paypal. We also accept checks.
  3. Where do lessons take place?Most of our students enjoy the luxury of taking lessons in their own home or office. Lessons at teacher’s studios are also available upon request.
  4. How long are lessons?Our standard lessons are 60 minutes. We additionally offer 30 minute lessons.
  5. How often are lessons?Lessons are most commonly held once a week.
  6. When can I start taking lessons?We can get you started with lessons as soon as you are ready!
  7. Do you offer an opportunity to meet a teacher?Yes, we offer an introductory 30 minutes lesson. If for any reason you don’t ‘click’ with the teacher, the introductory lesson is completely transferable to another teacher. 9 out of 10 times, our student teacher matching process makes for a good fit.
  8. Do you offer both private and group lessons?One on One private lessons are the primary type of lessons we offer. We do allow group lessons upon request if you have friends, family, or co-worker’s interested in having a group lesson. Please contact us for more details and pricing.
  9. What style(s) of music do you teach?We have teachers that specialize in all styles of music including Jazz, Rock, Classical, Country, Folk, Irish and more. All of our teachers can teach beginning guitar in most of these styles. You can always start with one teacher and then move to another teacher that specializes in the particular style you want to learn as you improve your basic skills. The best thing to do is to contact us for recommendations and advice.
  10. What levels of guitar do you teach?We teach students from complete beginner to advanced professionals. All teachers teach beginning and intermediate lessons and each of our teachers also has their specific strength for advanced lessons; From Rock, Blues and Jazz to Classical and Flamenco.
  11. Do I have the necessary talent to learn to play an instrument?We have not yet come across one student that does not have some sort of musical abilities. Everyone has their strenghts. Some are better at reading notes, some at chords, some at improvising etc. Eventually, everyone has a barrier that they must get across to get to the next level. It is not how talented you are, but how diligent and determined and how much you play your instrument!
  12. What are the cancellation policies?We know that you have a busy schedule and we want to make sure you feel you are getting the most out of your lessons. We offer a 24 hour cancellation policy. All student and teacher cancellations are made up. A lesson that is cancelled the same day as the lesson, by the student, will be charged in full and will not be made up.
  13. Can I take lessons on an every other week basis?We highly recommend that you take lessons on a weekly basis.We do offer lessons every other week, but you may want to wait until you have the time to take lessons on a weekly basis. We find that students who take on a weekly basis learn at an exceptionally faster rate. In the end, it’s more economical and efficient to take lessons weekly.
  14. Can I take 2 lessons per week?Yes. Lessons on a weekly basis are sufficient to learning guitar at a steady rate, however, if you would like the extra guidance, or are an exceptionally quick learner, we are happy to offer lessons 2 times per week.
  15. How much do lessons cost?We are happy to say we have the most competitive rates available with the services and teachers that we offer. To find out how much lessons are in your area, please contact Teacher Tone by phone or email.
  16. How do I get started?First, take the student teacher Match. You will be prompted through a series of questions regarding musical tastes, styles, etc. We’ll find exactly when you are available for lessons, your general location, and then we make the match. Once we have found one of our teachers that matches, we’ll set up an introductory lesson. Here you can meet the teacher and make sure you ‘click’.
  17. What is your privacty policy?All of your information is held with strict confidentiality. We do not and will never sell or release any of your information.
  18. Do you have a gift certificate option? Yes! Gift certificates are extremely popular, especially at the holiday season. Gift certificates can be mailed or emailed to the purchaser or the recipient.
  19. Are there lessons on weekends?Yes. Lessons are conveniently conducted seven days a week.
  20. How do I know I am going to be studying with a qualified teacher?All Teacher Tone teachers have music degrees and have studied in music conservatories such as Julliard, Manhattan School of Music, Curtis and Berkley. They all have a background in teaching and regularly perform throughout New York City. We have a very selective process for choosing our Teachers!
